Texas State Button Society (TSBS) is reaching out for more publicity. In March, local clubs put effort into the second year of “Around Texas” displays in local libraries and cultural centers to introduce the wonderful world of buttons to local residents.
Our mission to preserve art and history extends to other organizations and societies. For example, the Ten Thousand Villages shop is a pioneer for fair trade. At its annual fundraising event “One Reason Why”, TSBS donated a button frame for silent auction with celluloid wafer buttons of Native American inspired Deco design.
Once on the path of learning through buttons, we quickly build the confidence to share what we have learned with anyone interested in cultural art. Many of our TSBS members have made presentations at other clubs/organizations to promote the appreciation of art and history from around the world.
